A Physician Silenced: The Case of Dr. Habtamu Alemu

Doctor Habtamu Alemu, a young physician from Diredawa, Ethiopia, was arbitrarily detained by local police after withdrawing from his candidacy for the city administration council due to pressure from authorities. He was arrested on his way to Dil Chora Hospital, where he served as a medical doctor. Since his detention, Dr. Habtamu has reportedly faced severe mistreatment, including solitary confinement, denial of food and medical supplies, restricted visitation, and physical assault by police officers.
